The Beach Café

The Beach Café consists of a coffee shop, a takeaway, several outlets selling ice-cream and drinks, and a beach goods shop.  The whole is now managed ‘in house’ and we would welcome constructive comments and complaints so that we can improve the service we offer.

Opening hours are:

Summer (BST):    09:00 - 17:00 daily

Winter (GMT):     10:00 – 16:00 daily

PLEASE NOTE: By the very nature of the enterprise the various parts of the Café are opened progressively as demand increases.  It is uneconomic to do otherwise.  Also in really vile weather when there are no customers in the car park, the Manager is authorised to close before the times listed above.

Lifeguard Base

If there is an emergency or if you require first aid, report to the lifeguard base. Our staff are specially trained to deal with various situations. We recommend you swim between the red and yellow flags as this marks the area that the lifeguards patrol. Dangerous currents and sand bars occur at “The Hinge” so swimming is prevented here.

Visit our Beach Safety page for more information.

East Head

East Head is the sand dune spit situated at the eastern side of the entrance to Chichester Harbour and is managed by the National Trust.

Visit the East Head information page for further information.

Toilets & Showers

There are 3 toilet blocks, all of which have disabled toilets, 2 include shower facilities. All of the taps on the estate are drinking water, there are several located along the road.
