Head Chef
Job type: Fixed Term to 18/01/2021 (potential to extend depending on circumstances at the time)
Hours: 40 hours per week – daytime hours no evening shifts

We are recruiting an experienced Head Chef who has a passion for preparing quality food and is conversant with all aspects of running a busy kitchen. During the summer months we are very busy and on occasion we have had upwards of 15,000 people visiting the beach, so being familiar with a fast-paced environment is essential.
Working hours are normally daytime shifts, although there may be some later finishes (early evening on exceptionally busy days) and will include weekends and bank holidays.
The role
Reporting to the Café Manager, you will be responsible for the overall success and smooth running of the kitchen operation. Promoting and maintaining the quality of product and service. You will oversee all aspects of the kitchen operations; including menu planning, food preparation, costs, stock management, hygiene, compliance and training & development of kitchen staff.
You will have an adaptive and flexible approach to the seasonality of the business. During the summer months menus will be designed to meet the high demand, with focus on ensuring a continuous excellent standard. During the winter months, menus will be more creative through specials and seasonally available foods.
You will be self-motivated with a strong work ethic, positive and enthusiastic, have proven management skills and be an effective communicator. You will actively promote team working by supporting, engaging and motivating your team.
You will ensure compliance with relevant legislation and that all required procedures are carried out, including EHO documentation and legislation, food hygiene, HACCP and COSHH procedures.

- Demonstrate 2 years experience as a Head Chef
- Experience of creating and delivering successful menus, and of using fresh and local produce seasonally
- Delivering excellent customer service
- Managing & motivating staff effectively
- Stock level management and ordering
- Catering qualifications
- Knowledge of Health and Safety compliance requirements including any qualifications
- Knowledge of systems
