West Wittering Beach - Safety & Facilities Hub

One of our main aims is to ensure the safety of everyone who visits the beach.

We are delighted to share our exciting plans for a new lifeguard tower, designed to support this aim. It will provide state-of -the-art lifeguard facilities and major improvements to the public toilets and showers.

West Wittering Beach attracts 1 million visitors annually, with up to 20,000 people on a busy day in the height of summer.

Each year an average of:

  • 190 people require Lifeguard assistance in the water via rescue board or jet ski rescue

  • 165 need medical assistance for cuts and bruises to cardiac arrest

  • 300 missing persons, predominantly children, are reunited with their families

This has created a need for upgraded public amenities for our visitors’ convenience and modern safety facilities to support or Lifeguard and Operations Teams in managing the beach effectively.

Our proposal for a new Safety and Facilities Hub aims to achieve this.

Current facilities:

The current toilet block is in a state of disrepair. Or proposal will increase public toilets by 50%, and beach showers by 100%.

Lifeguard HQ provides coverage for up to 20,000 visitors on a busy day. The new facilities house an improved tower, medical room, staff facilities, and equipment storage.
